For Who?

The advice line is intended for any parents, carers or family members actively involved in raising children. Being a parent can be a challenging and daunting role at times, not knowing how to handle every struggle that your child faces. This service is therefore here to offer support, advice, and equip you to be the best adults in your children's lives.

While Play Therapy sessions are aimed at children to explore issues or concerns, and find solutions to work through these. Play Therapy is the most effective type of therapy for children as they mostly express their issues nonverbally through their behaviour and actions. This is due to children not having insight into life experiences, or the vocabulary to 'talk' through whatever is on their mind. Through play they express themselves aiding them to find understanding and solutions. Play therapy gives children the opportunity to convey their emotions and worries in a way that is natural to them - through play.

Why?

Many parents often do not have the experience or knowledge on how to cope or handle behaviour changes, frustration, aggression or any emotional concerns that their children present, often needing extra support or advice to help work these difficulties in a positive, nurturing way.  However this is often only achievable through long, weekly professional therapy appointments which many parents do not have the time, finances, or energy to attend. These are therefore often left as a last resort, instead of seeking advice while the difficulties are new and easily solvable. I want to offer an easily accessible and simple service to all parents/carers/family members who are struggling with everyday problems or concerns in regard to their children. With the aim to offer advice, insight, and  equip you to find simple and practical skills to solutions for your child's struggles they are facing.
